After my visit to Bob’s Clam Hut, I continued my search for buttery delicious lobster by going a little further north to Portland, Maine.  I’ve always heard the lobster was better in Maine and my mission was to discover if that rumor was true.  I was going to stay a couple of days there, and my main diet would be filled with lobster in all its forms.  I had a list of places I wanted to visit, and then I started talking to all the local people, and the list went out the window.  Lesson learned, always talk with people who live in the area to get the best suggestions for where to eat.  I’m happy I took their advice as I was led to The High Roller Lobster Company.  This place is all about lobster, it’s what you come for.  They have a few other offerings, but lobster is king here and worth the money.   It was lunch time when I went and so I ate lite order the Lobby Pop and the Lobster Roll Flight.

The Lobby Pop was lobster in its purest form.  This was a lobster tail served on a stick with warmed butter.  I don’t think you can ask for anything purer when it comes to lobster.  You can get the lobster tail dipped in a batter and deep fried, but that wasn’t my game.  Give me lobster unadulterated and definitely not deep fried.  I took my side of warm butter and just poured it over the lobster with a squirt of lemon.  What can I say, this was perfection.  The lobster was sweet, buttery, tender, and oh so satisfying.  You can tell these guys have been preparing lobster for years, and every bite testified to their experience.  If you are a purest, a minimalist, then this is what you want in your life.

The second item I ordered was the Lobster Roll Flight.  This is a set of three lobster rolls, and you can choose from an assortment of sauces to accompany your rolls.  You can get a single full-size lobster roll, but me wanting to experience something that would satiate the palate decided to try a couple of their sauces.  My choices were the Roasted Red Pepper Mayo, the Charred Pineapple May, and the Draw Butter.  They do have add-ones like applewood bacon, caramelized onion, avocado, etc.  I thought adding any of the add-ons would just be over kill so I passed on those.  Out of the three rolls, I have to say my favorite was the one with the charred pineapple mayo.  The first thing you taste is the pineapple itself, and this was very well done.  It was creamy, smooth, and just full of flavor.  A very nice enhancement for the lobster.  You do get that buttery taste of lobster which comes in at the end, and it is well worth the wait.  A great pairing for sure.  My second ranked one would be the roll with the drawn butter.  You can’t go wrong with a classic, and this doesn’t disappoint.  The Roaster Red Pepper Mayo was good also, but ranking the three this would be my third choice.  They do have other sauces like Lime Mayo, Jalapeno Mayo, Curried Ketchup, and Lobster Ghee, and I would like to return to try some of them.  I will always get the charred pineapple and drawn butter though.

Needless to say, I am very enthusiastic about this place and give it a high recommend.  Take a look at the menu, which the link is given below.  Take a look at all they offer, then get in the car and take a road trip to The High Roller Lobster Company in Portland, Maine.  This was lunch, and for dinner….well you’ll just have to wait for that and you won’t be disappointed.
