Whenever I’m in Italy, I try to research potential dinner spots. For lunch, however, I just kind of wander around the area of the city or town I’m in and find something that has dishes I’m craving. I hadn’t planned to stop at Oinos for lunch the day I went, but the Christmas market near Santa Croce in Florence was packed and I didn’t see anything that I wanted to eat.

What attracted me to Oinos was its location on a sharp corner between intersection streets. I walked in because I saw that they had a ton of pizza options. I went with the burrata which was topped with sauce, tomatoes, and basil as well. One thing I love about pizza in Italy is how much flavor they get from simple, fresh ingredients. This was no different. For those of you who haven’t been, Italians typically order one pizza per person which is great because you get what you want and you don’t have to share. And it’s entirely expected that you eat the whole thing! I tend not to love a ton of sauce on pizza and this had a bit much but the burrata was so fresh that it counterbalanced the sauce nicely. The crust was also thicker than most Italian pizza crusts which was surprising. I didn’t mind it though.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Oinos. They have a casual dining area up front and a bit more formal dining area past the stairs as well as outdoor and covered outdoor dining depending on your needs and desires. The pizza wasn’t the best I’ve had but if I were in the area, I’d certainly stop by for lunch again.
