On a recent trip to Dallas, I decided to do a little homework about the food scene downtown near my hotel, the Magnolia. Unsurprisingly, pizza was at the top of my list for meals I wanted to have. After a few Google searches, one of the places that kept coming up was Partenope.
Partenope has a good bit of variety for patrons and their specialty, pizza, is no exception. I had my eye on a couple different pizzas but decided to go with Elenuccia, recommended by the bartender, which comes with mozzarella, pancetta, shaved brussels, and Calabrian chilis. I can honestly say it was one of the best pizzas I’ve had in America. For just $17, you got a personal size pizza that combined the saltiness of the pancetta with the subtle crunch of the brussels, augmented by noticeable yet subtle heat from the chilis. Although some of the ingredients aren’t traditional in Italian pizzas, Partenope’s pizzas transport me across the pond because of the way they allow the ingredients to shine through.
For dessert, I had to get the torta with pistachio and ricotta. Drizzled with Nutella, the cake was the perfect size for a post-pizza sweet. I love pistachio-flavored desserts and this did not disappoint. As those who know me are well aware, I appreciate restaurants that have unique options for dessert that either offer a new spin on a classic or, like this, come up with something you may not see anywhere else.
Overall, I would recommend a stop at Partenope if you find yourself in downtown Dallas. It’s got a modern vibe and offers up fresh perspectives on classic Italian dishes.
